Tips for long-lasting Candles!
How To Care for Your Candles
Trim that Wick!
Wick trimming is extremely important, always trim your wick to about 1/4" height above the wax prior to each burn. To achieve a precise/mess free cut you can use one of our wick trimmers. A candle free of debris and trimmed will insure longevity and a safe burn.
Avoid the drafts
Keep your candle away from air vents and open windows. If you notice your flame is swaying/flickering there may be a draft. A steady flame insures an even burn, eliminates excess sooting, and extends the lifespan of your candle (being that it's burning slowly at its steady rate)
Pro Tip: Place your candle in a lantern to help block drafts that cannot be avoided such as during outdoor events, or simply just for decor, etc. (Great for indoor use as well!).
Burn baby Burn!
Let your wax melt all the way to the edges of the jar during each burn. This tip is especially important during the first burn to prevent your candle from tunneling.
But Don't Burn for too Long!
Do NOT burn your candle for more than 4 hours at a time. Burning your candle for more than 4 hours causes excess sooting (black smoke) leaving your candle jar with a black residue, mushrooming on wicks, and decreases your candles lifespan.
Pro Tip: We all need some "me" time but sometimes we may not have 4 hours available to sit around and indulge our senses. So If you don't have much time light a smaller candle like our Minis (within 1-2 hours it'll be fully melted to the edges and ready to be extinguished before you go!).
Time to Extinguish
Knowing when to stop burning your candle is important! Do NOT burn your candle if only 1/4-1/2" of wax remains. Lighting your candle without enough wax can overheat the jar. To extinguish simply use a candle snuffer, wick dipper, or just blow it out (gently).
Safety
As always, be safe. NEVER leave your lit candle unattended, keep candles out of the reach of children and pets, and do not place lit candles near objects that can catch fire.
Pro Tip: To protect your furniture or simply for extra safety place your candles on coasters, plates, or lantern.
